The Kihon are the basic movements of Karate, and the first techniques learned by a beginner. After much practice and greater understanding, the student is taught to combine the basic moves into set forms, or Kata.

Just as there are many different techniques, there are many Kata too. With each progression up the grading ladder, the student is expected to learn more basic, intermediate and advanced technique. Similarly, there are more advanced Kata, but also more advanced ways of practicing the basic Kata.

Kata training at the Orchard Towers Dojo is detailed and direct. Our instructors are able to explain the Applications (Bunkai) of the Kata in a clear manner, and special Bunkai sessions are held to teach the senior students more about their Art.
